Free Reffnet Consultation
for SMEs in the Basel area
With the Reffnet initial consultation, funded by BaselCircular, SMEs in the Basel area receive a free, practical assessment of their current situation.
Reffnet Consulting focuses on demonstrating:
- how material usage is reduced,
- how processes are optimized,
- how both environmental and economic benefits can be achieved, and
- how a circular economy can be implemented.
As accredited Reffnet consultants, we will support you throughout this process.
Key benefits for you: clear priorities, concrete actions, and a decision-making framework that will help you take the next logical steps.
Who is this counseling service intended for?
This free consultation is especially helpful if you…
- manufacture, process, or package (material usage, scrap, byproducts, packaging)
- Identify customer requirements (e.g., product and material data, CO₂ information, supplier information)
- work in the food or hospitality industry and want to significantly reduce losses and waste
What happens during the free initial Reffnet consultation?
You’ll receive an action-oriented potential analysis: Together, we’ll examine your material and resource flows, identify the most significant levers for change, and translate them into concrete measures that work in your day-to-day operations—including prioritization and next steps.
Your result
At the end of the free initial Reffnet consultation, you’ll have clearly prioritized results that integrate seamlessly with your internal processes—so you can easily decide on the next steps as a team and with senior management and get them started right away.
Scope of funding: a total of 24 hours—including 18 hours of consulting by ecos experts and 6 hours of impact assessment.
Why ecos?
- Deeply rooted in the Basel region—short distances, a pragmatic approach
- Technical Depth (Industry, Materials & Process Logic)

If the initial Reffnet consultation gives rise to further topics—such as PPWR, Digital Product Passport (DPP), PCF/LCA, or specific supplier and customer requirements—we at ecos will also support you, upon request, in exploring these topics in greater depth and implementing them as a separate follow-up project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it really cost nothing?
No—for eligible SMEs in the Basel area, the Reffnet initial consultation is free of charge as part of BaselCircular (while funds last).
How long does that take?
Typically, we can get started quickly, depending on availability and complexity.
Do we need to start preparing the data already?
No. If you have anything (purchase orders, production metrics, packing list), that helps, but we can get started even if it’s not perfect.
