Climate participation in the city of Winterthur

The city of Winterthur is taking an exemplary approach to climate protection. The “net zero 2040” climate policy target was set and a detailed action plan was defined in the energy and climate concept, which includes the promotion of participatory processes for climate protection. ecos assisted the Climate Office of the City of Winterthur in the development of a practice-oriented definition of participation, an Excel-based tool for assessing the need for participation per stakeholder group and climate protection measure, and a catalog of concrete, proven participation formats. The definition of participation was designed co-creatively in a cross-departmental workshop, in which a common understanding of participation as a method was also developed. This provided the Climate Unit with a strategic framework and strengthened the cross-departmental support needed to drive forward the participatory implementation of the energy and climate concept.
