Organic & Fairtrade Cotton Coalition West Africa

The “Organic & Fairtrade Cotton Coalition” is a business model of ecos, FiBL and Aproca, which enables partnership-based and market-oriented cooperation between all players along the textile value chain. In the first phase, the geographical focus is on West Africa.

The coalition consists of the following elements and is intended to be self-supporting in the medium term:

  • Cooperation/coalition: from the small farmers in West Africa to the ginners, spinners and garment makers to brands and retailers in Switzerland, Europe and worldwide.
  • Innovative, digital tool: The tool strengthens the competitiveness of the individual players, increases transparency and planning security.
  • Production services: Organic producers benefit from the results of applied research and capacity building.
  • Networking service: Regional networks support exchange and learning opportunities.

Further information can be found on the project website and in our one-pager (pdf, 1.3 MB). Information about the first meeting of the Coalition in Burkina Faso in 2018 can be found here and about the second meeting in 2020 here.
