Sibyl Anwander was a lecturer in agricultural policy and a research assistant with a focus on supply chains and environmental economics at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences of the ETH Zurich for several years before moving to the private sector in 2001. She was head of economic policy and sustainability at Coop for 13 years. In this role, she also represented Coop in important sector initiatives pushing for more sustainability in the supply chain. Among other things, she was Chairwoman of the Business Social Compliance Initiative. She later became executive director of the ProTerra Foundation, with a focus on sustainable soy, as well as a member of the supervisory board of the Basler Kantonalbank. In 2015, she took over the management of the Economics and Innovation Division at the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). Her portfolio included topics such as the economy, the promotion of innovation, sustainable public procurement, sustainable finance (including the financing of ecosystem services) and policy assessment.
Sibyl Anwander has been running her own consultancy firm based in Hamburg since 2020. This also included the mandate as Managing Director of soil and more, which was later taken over by sustainable AG. Her consulting work focuses on sustainable supply chains, biodiversity and ecosystem services, regenerative agriculture and sustainable procurement.
