Tobias Meier
Project manager, Member of the Executive Board

Tobias holds the position of Senior Project Manager and is Member of the Executive Board at ecos. His main field of focus is business models along the sustainable textile supply chain, which extends all the way from the organic cotton fields in West Africa to the consumers. Tobias is also the President of Swiss Fair Trade, the industry organisation representing parties involved in fair trade in Switzerland, and a Member of the Management Board of Gebana, a fair trade association.

Tobias studied Business Studies at the University of St. Gallen, where he majored in Economics. Once he had graduated, he went on to work as a marketing consultant for consumer goods at Nielsen. Starting in 1994, Tobias was the Head of the Fair Trade Department at Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, the largest development organisation in Switzerland, for 22 years. He was responsible for trade activities (mail order, online and shops in Zurich) and took the lead on issues relating to development policy and fair trade. Tobias was in charge of stakeholder dialogue as part of the organic cotton trade facilitation programme run by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Tobias was a Member of the Max Havelaar Foundation Council for ten years, taking on the role of President between 2003 and 2005. Tobias was a member of the Board of Directors of Gebana AG from 2012 to 2022.
