Marco works at ecos as a Climate Project Manager. He supports companies in their transition to more sustainable business models and combines strategic considerations with a solid data foundation. His focus is on preparing greenhouse gas inventories, advising on mitigation measures, and developing practical solutions for reducing emissions.
He gained his initial experience in sustainability brand management, where his responsibilities included spearheading the introduction of the Eco-Score sustainability label, coordinating all communication efforts for the launch, and overseeing the development of a major retailer’s sustainable private-label food brands.
Marco then worked as a sustainability consultant and team lead for customer support. In this dual role, he calculated corporate and product carbon footprints in accordance with the GHG Protocol, assisted companies in developing their climate strategies, and streamlined processes for SME clients to improve efficiency. He also gained his first practical experience with science-based climate targets (SBTi).
Before moving into the field of sustainability, he worked at a publishing house for seven years. There, he was responsible for online and direct marketing, established partnerships, and assisted with business development and accounting.
Marco earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in sustainable development from the University of Basel.
