Preliminary study and pilot project: Circular solutions for textiles

The aim of the preliminary study and the pilot project is to demonstrate the potential of the circular economy in the textile sector for the city of Zurich and to close the textile cycle using the first textiles.

In 2022, Prozirkula conducted a preliminary study in the area of textile circular economy for the city of Zurich in collaboration with ecos. This involved desktop research, an analysis of the current situation (including a comparison of the current situation and future closed-loop recycling), process optimisation (including quick wins) and workshops for purchasers. Recommendations for possible pilot projects were also made.

The preliminary study for Prozirkula and ecos resulted in pilot project support for the city of Zurich in the area of flat linen as well as a feasibility study and pilot project support in the area of workwear. Both projects deal with fibre-to-fibre recycling. One is in the area of mechanical recycling and the other in the area of chemical recycling.
